Exhale....

Well, she's been home for 24 hours. The reality of having a newborn in the house has hit. There are bottles, blankets, passies, burp rags and chaos running rampant in our home. No one slept last night. She has to get used to being home. The hardest thing is that she has to get used to being held. I held her at every opportunity in the hospital but for most of her time in there she was in the "box" or under the lights so she didn't get a lot of snuggling. I don't think it will be a huge adjustment since she just spent 2 hours laying on her Daddy while they both napped.

You know that movie "Waiting to Exhale?" Well, that is how it felt when we were finally home yesterday. And even today after her doctor visit. She went to her pediatrician this morning and he thought she looked pretty perfect. Even if she did look like her Daddy. We don't even have to go back until August. He told us not to worry about keeping her on the NICU schedule, not to wake her to feed at night and to just enjoy her. Her weight gain looked really good. It was like the weight just lifted when we came home. She's ours. She's here and we can be her parents with no one looking over our shoulder.

Tomorrow, I intend to spend the day in my pajamas all day. It's my celebration. I'm not getting dressed, we're not leaving the house. We are just going to be.

Exhale.
